Aims and Objectives

The module requires participants to critically review and update their knowledge of pharmacology at a higher level than that taught at undergraduate level. You'll be able to access this resource for 12 months after purchase.

You will study:

  • The nature and effects of medicines
  • Pharmacotherapeutics - the use of drugs to treat a disease or its symptoms
  • Pharmacodynamics - the effects of drugs on the body or tissues
  • Pharmacokinetics - the processes of absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of an administered drug (prescription-only and pharmacy medicines) that can be accessed and supplied to patients by podiatrists

You will explore:

  • Pharmacological principles, pharmacotherapeutics, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of a range of prescribed medication regimes used to treat systemic pathologies in patients who may consult podiatrists.

You will:

  • Undertake drug dose calculations
  • Consider drug interactions and the side effects of drug medication regimes
